Meet Your Hosts
Clodagh & Shane, @turastales
"Hey there! We're Clodagh and Shane, the founders of Turas Tales. We started Turas Tales after travelling extensively through Southeast Asia and falling in love with the incredible locations, landscapes and experiences we discovered along the way. Northern Vietnam quickly became one of our favourite places in the world, and it's the destination that inspired us to build this business. Rather than rushing from one tourist attraction to the next, we enjoy travel that combines adventure, culture and plenty of opportunities to connect with the people around us. That's exactly the atmosphere we wanted this trip to capture. We'll be travelling alongside the group, getting to know everyone, sharing the experiences that made us fall in love with Vietnam, and making sure it's an unforgettable journey from start to finish. We can't wait to explore Northern Vietnam with a group of like-minded travellers and we'd love for you to join us!"

"Dealing with Turas Tales was a dream from start to finish. Shane and his team are a pleasure to deal with. Before the trip, all information is provided, no stone is left unturned, any questions can be answered via video call which was a great help. I had no hesitation in booking the trip after the video call. And contact was made with us while in Vietnam to check how we were getting on. We were never in the dark for any part of it. The highlight of the trip had to be the amazing scenery Vietnam has to offer, especially around Sapa. One particular part was the overnight cruise on Lan Ha Bay, with kayaking, sea swimming and squid fishing included. Such a fantastic way to spend a day and night. This experience was 5/5 from start to finish. Absolutely everything was simply exceptional. I would highly recommend using Turas Tales, and I will most certainly book through them again for future trips. We had absolutely no issues whatsoever from initial booking to the day we got home. Shane is extremely courteous and professional in his approach to customers, keeping in contact throughout the countdown to travel time, with information required and ensuring all necessities are taken care of before you go. And any requests we had, were dealt with and catered for from the get-go. The only thing we had to do was to book our own flights, and Shane and his team took care of the rest. Top class. For anyone who is thinking about Vietnam, stop thinking and book it, you will absolutely not be disappointed. Contact Turas Tales now for the trip of a lifetime!"

"I would have to say the highlight of the trip was probably the cruise on Lan Ha Bay and everything involved with that. From the kayaking and swimming to the cooking class onboard, it was just so relaxing. Dealing with Turas Tales was an absolute pleasure, from the very first conversation right up to now. I was never left wondering about anything and always kept up to date on everything. Everything was made so easy for me so thanks very much. I can't rate this highly enough so from start to finish and everything in-between, it's 5 star rating from me. I will definitely be recommending Turas Tales and this trip to anyone who will listen. Keep me in mind for anything else you may be planning. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much So all in all I really enjoyed the trip and actually would have no problem going again."
FAQs
The Ha Giang Loop
Do I need motorbike experience? No. Many travellers choose to ride with an experienced local “easy rider” driver rather than driving themselves. This is often the most enjoyable option because it allows you to fully relax and take in the scenery. This is also the safest option.
Can I drive myself? Yes, but you must have a valid International Driving Permit that specifically covers motorbike use in Vietnam. Police checks are common on the loop and fines apply if you do not have the correct licence documentation. We also don't recommend driving yourself unless you are very experienced with motorbikes as the Loop is a challenging ride for novices.
What should I wear on the Loop? Temperatures can vary significantly throughout the loop, especially in the mountains where evenings can become cold. We strongly recommend bringing: Light layers Waterproof outer layer Comfortable trousers Closed footwear Warm layer for evenings Layering lighter clothing is usually more comfortable and practical than bringing one heavy jumper. Safety gear will be provided.
What is an "Easy Rider"? An easy rider is a professional local driver who drives the motorbike while you ride as a passenger. All of our easy riders are experienced local drivers who know the roads and routes extremely well.
Is the Ha Giang Loop dangerous? The roads are mountainous and adventurous, but safety is a major priority throughout the experience. We work with trusted local teams and experienced guides who specialise in the route. Travellers are never pressured to drive themselves.
What is the accommodation like on ther Loop? Accommodation is more simple than in larger cities and tourist areas. This reflects the remote and authentic nature of the region and is part of the overall experience.
Payments & Booking
How does payment work? Payments are split into manageable instalments. A €100 deposit secures your place on the tour, and the final payment will be due 45 days before departure. Exact payment amounts and dates are shown at checkout.
How do I secure my place? You can secure your place with a €100 deposit using any of the payment options above. If you have questions before booking
Is my deposit refundable? Deposits remain fully refundable until the minimum group size has been reached and the tour is officially confirmed. Once the trip is confirmed, the deposit is no longer refundable, and cancellations are subject to the policies laid out in our Terms & Conditions (see full page via link in footer)
What happens after I book? After booking, your place is confirmed. A team member will reach out with this confirmation and send you all relevant details. The day before departure, you will be added to a Whatsapp groupchat with your fellow travellers and tour leader, so you'll have a point of contact in Vietnam before arriving.
